Overview
MemoUS lets you delete some or all of your data while keeping your account. All steps below are performed in the MemoUS app (iOS or Android) while signed in. This page explains what you can delete, how to do it, and what is kept.
To delete your entire account instead, use Delete account (web or Profile → Delete account in the app). Account deletion has a separate 30-day grace period.
Archive child on the Home screen only hides a profile. All memos, photos, and records stay on our servers until you permanently delete the child or delete your account.
1. Permanently delete one child’s data
Who can do this: The child’s primary parent only. Co-parents cannot permanently delete a child profile.
Steps in the MemoUS app:
- Open the Home tab.
- On the child’s card, choose Archive (or archive from the child menu).
- Scroll to Archived Children at the bottom of Home.
- Tap Delete (permanent) on the archived child and confirm.
What is deleted (immediately, no grace period):
- The child’s profile
- All activity logs (memos) for that child
- All memory photos and thumbnails for that child (Firebase Storage)
- Growth profiles, AI profiles, milestones, life story, constellations, and wellbeing logs for that child
What is kept:
- Your MemoUS account and sign-in
- Other children in your household (if any)
- Data belonging to other household members
Retention: Permanent deletion is immediate. There is no 30-day recovery period for per-child deletion.
2. Delete individual memos (activity logs)
Steps in the MemoUS app:
- Open the Memo tab (journal) for the child.
- Open the memo you want to remove.
- Choose Delete and confirm.
What is deleted: That memo’s text, metadata, and any linked server-side records for that entry.
What is kept: Your account, the child profile, and all other memos and photos.
Retention: Deleted immediately from our servers.
3. Delete individual memory photos
Steps in the MemoUS app:
- Open the Memories tab.
- Select the photo you want to remove.
- Choose Delete and confirm.
What is deleted: That memory entry and its photo files from Firebase Storage.
What is kept: Your account, the child profile, memos, and other memories.
Retention: Deleted immediately from our servers.
4. Hide a child without deleting data (archive)
Steps in the MemoUS app:
- Open the Home tab.
- Archive the child from their card or menu.
What changes: The child is hidden from your active list.
What is kept: All server-side data — memos, photos, profiles, and records remain stored. You can restore the child anytime from Archived Children on Home.
Retention: Data is retained until you permanently delete the archived child (Section 1) or delete your account.
5. Request help deleting other data
For data not covered above (for example, clinician session notes, co-parent access removal, or a request you cannot complete in the app), email privacy@memous.app from the address linked to your account. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
